The house is very quiet and beautifully located on the inside of Skaftö, overlooking the sea and the channel between Ellös Fjord and Gullmarsfjorden. With its granite foundation, large overhangs and glass veranda house is a typical so-called Bohuslän dubbelhus, built in 1905. It has been carefully restored to its original condition with attention to all the beautiful carpentry details. Some passers-by stopped and admired the house and likened it to a "work of art". The house is decorated in a personal style with a mix of proprietary and older newly refurbished furniture. On the ground floor there is a bathroom with shower, kitchen, dining room, living room, bedroom and veranda. On the second floor is the bedroom / TV room with a double bed and another bedroom / studio with a single bed and a sofa bed.
Adjacent to the house is a large wooden deck with garden furniture and barbecue facilities. The wooden deck continues in a farming terrace with additional seating and div. vegetable crops that can be harvested is subject to availability. On the terrace has an orangery, decorated with wicker furniture and a hammockalkov. Here one can enjoy the scenery and nature, even if the night gets chilly.
On the pier below the house is a ladder for a morning dip and there is also the possibility of fishing. Stone Bridge also offer an exciting crabbing for the kids, gear and life jackets are available in the basement.
The closest surrounding nature is part of a conservation area and is characteristic of the inside of Skaftö and invites walks in the paddocks and through valleys with large oaks and beeches between the mountains. Just like Evert Taube wrote in his fine song "Invitation to Bohuslän".
"As blue-gray swell Bohus Mountains rolls
in desolate Majesty the marine boundary
But between these bare primeval hills
Is fertile soil and old peasant country .... "
A nice recording of this song with beautiful summer pictures from Skaftö can be found on You Tube. Search for: "Inbjudan till Bohuslän med Öbarna".
In this video you can see a glimpse of the cabin and also the dock with the boathouses.
At Skaftö are several fine nature reserves and a number of nice cycle routes. For example. a hike to the lighthouse on the Islands main begins through lush valleys between the mountains, and then goes into everything barren nature, which gives the feeling of walking in the mountains and ends at the lighthouse on a cliff overlooking the open sea.
You can also take a stroll through any of Skaftös three fishing villages, Fiskebäckskil, Grundsund and Rågårdsvik and admire the beautiful and well-kept houses. From Fiskebäckskil is even a boat service to the summer town of Lysekil. In these communities there are several restaurants.
