This elegant old vicarage, a large, light, yellow-painted wooden house typical of the turn of the 19th century, lies at the edge of the village of Dalskog in the middle of beautiful county of Dalsland with its many lakes and forests. The house is surrounded by a large garden (5000 m2), ringed by ancient trees, which makes it perfect both for those looking to enjoy the Swedish summer sunshine, or to relax in the shade. The garden is perfect for summer games such as croquet and "kubb", and there is also a tree house and swing set.
About two kilometers away is Kabbo lake, which has a lovely little beach with a boat jetty and a communal barbecue.
Food-shopping can easily be done in the local shop in the village of Dals Rostock, about 5km away, and the larger market town of Mellerud, about 12 km away, contains a large shopping centre as well as a busy town centre with two further supermarkets, a branch of systembolaget (off-licence), as well as greengrocers, cafes, restaurants and shops selling clothes, shoes, sports and camping equipment, etc.
The great lake of Vänern (Europe's largest lake) lies just 2km to the East of the town, with its characteristic white sand beaches.
Dalsland boasts the greatest number of lakes (just over 2000) of any county in Sweden. Many of these lakes are connected to each other, several by the ingenious system of canals and locks with its centre in the great tripple aqueduct system at Håverud, where road, rail and water traffic all criss-cross over and under each other. The network of lakes makes Dalsland the perfect place to enjoy canoe-camping trips.
The house has four bedrooms (we normally keep one of these locked), one with a double bed, one with three single beds, and another with a single bed and optional extra bed. The upper floor has a bathroom with shower and separate lavatory, with another lavatory downstairs. The kitchen, with seating room for 8-10 people, is fully equipped, and is adjoined by a larder, extra room for children (originally the maid's room) and back entrance. The large drawing and dining rooms are also on the ground floor, the latter giving out onto the glazed veranda where one can dine while looking out over the garden and take advantage of the long summer evenings.
The kitchen is equipped with full-sized oven and hob, a microwave oven, dishwasher and washer-dryer. In the drawing room is a 40-inch TV with HDMI input suitable for connecting to laptops or internet-tv. There is also Apple TV (3rd gen). The house is connected to fibre with a fast and stable internet connection.
