Stockholm archipelago, Skarpö, Vaxholm

Easy access by car via free car ferry and bridge. Perfect location for excursions in the archipelago and in Stockholm. Charming house, originally from 1909, on a beautiful island. 150 m to the boats taking you to Stockholm, or to other islands in the archipelago. Nice garden (2 800 sqm) with trees, flowers, birdsong, large playhouse for the kids, flagpole. Furniture for outdoor meals.

The house has two entrances - the main entrance with hallway and large wardrobe, kitchen entrance directly from the garden. Downstairs is a fully equipped kitchen with dining area for 4-7 p. Hallway leading to both dining room with large dining table with seating for 6-8 p and to living room. Several windows. Bathroom with toilet, large sink, shower and two windows.

Upstairs is a large bedroom with double bed, wardrobe. A smaller bedroom with two single beds. Both bedrooms have windows in two directions. Large balcony under the roof with evening sun. Here you hear the archipelago boats below in Stegesund.

Due to one bathroom/WC, the recommendation is for one family. However, there is also a guesthouse with two large bedrooms with windows. One with a double bed, another with a 105 cm bed. Some sea view from the guesthouse. Outside, you will also find a shower and sink with hot water.

If needed, there is a cot, baby chair and a potty. There are a lot of toys for children.

Welcome to this part of the Skarpö island which is called Skarpöborg. Skarpö, accessed by car, is very well known for its turn of the century wooden country houses. We will be happy to help you with suggestions on wonderful experiences in the archipelago!

The boat from Skarpö to Stockholm takes ~60 min. It's 200 m from the house to the boat stop "Skarpöborg" (time table 5a/5b).
From the boat stop "Rindö Västra" (next to the ferry) you can also take the SL-boat to Stockholm (time table 83/83x), same ticket system as on buses and subway.
Bus from Vaxholm to Stockholm takes ~50 min (time table 670).

Directions:
Take the free car ferry from Vaxholm to Rindö. When exiting the ferry, turn immediately to the left towards Skarpö. Continue over the bridge. From the ferry it's 1,3 km.

The ferry takes 5 min and runs all day/night, every 30 min or even every 10 min during rush hours. Time table in the app "Tidtabellen" "Vaxholmsleden, Vaxholm - Rindö".

We really enjoyed our stay at this lovingly renovated cottage from 1904. The pictures are very accurate: It is a spacious and lovingly furnished house with a very well appointed kitchen. The bedrooms upstairs get a lot of light, which we really enjoyed, as blinds ensured we got enough sleep. There is a lovely upstairs balcony which we enjoyed as it catches the evening sun. We loved the little guest house, too! The garden offers several seating arrangements during sunny days. Skarpö itself is a lovely, quiet little island which is nevertheless well connected to Vaxholm and Stockholm. Mia and Thomas were wonderful hosts who were very welcoming, thoughtful and helpful in pointing out local ferry connections, bathing spots and events. During a cold spell they came over to turn on the heating and they were always ready to lend a helping hand. We had a lovely and relaxing stay and hope to visit again soon!

The last week of July we had the privilege to visit this beautiful house at Skarpo. We had a great week. The welcome by Mia and Ludde was warm and they could show us around, not just in the house but also point out were to go for a swim. The house and garden are big enough to host 2 adults and 4 teenagers. We could all be together in the living room or the dining room but there are also plenty of spots to find some peace. Skarpo is really lovely, full of those beautiful wooden houses. The isle itself is absolutely quiet but Vaxholm is nearby for all groceries, restaurants and boats to Stockholm and the other isles. The archipel was even more beautiful than we had imagined and (a pleasant surprise) no mosquitos. In short, definitely a place to remember and come back to. Enjoy.

The house is located within a nice and calm property with old trees and cliff stones. It is old style and typical for the wonderful island of Skarpö which is ideally located in the Archipelogo of Stockholm. On the one side it is close to Vaxholm, a nice and picturesque harbour city with boats heading to Stockholm and many Archipelago islands. (It is highly commended to make these boat trips. They provide a unique insight into the marvelous landscape of the Archipelago and also a unique panorama of the wonderful city of Stockholm.) On the other hand it offers the charm of an island with different coast lines and nice places to take a bath in the Baltic sea. The house itself offers everything that is needed for relaxing holidays. The owners are lovely and very helpful in giving advice and to make the stay most enjoyable.
