The area
Winter
Sadeln/Björnen is a family-friendly area with child-friendly slopes. The ski lift system is integrated with Åres ski system where you find more challenging slopes. In the area you have both Ski-rental and ski-school and for cross-country skiing there are groomed trails of 3, 5, 10 and 15 km and 5 km of illuminated trail.
During the ski season there are free ski buses between Åre Björnen - Åre - Tegefjäll - Duved to easily explore other areas.
In the larger area you can try dog sledging, ice climbing or rent a snowmobile to explore the surronding mountains.
Summer
The region of Åre offers access to many different outdoor sport activities as climbing, canoeing, rafting, downhill cycling, zipline or paragliding, riding and golfing. The surrounding beautiful nature is perfect for hiking, fishing and during season (late summer/autumn) you can also pick berries and mushrooms (The Right of Public Access). The list of things to do is long.
Half an hour away you will find Swedens largest waterfall Tännforsen. You cab also explore the Sami culture in Njarka Sami camp. You can easily combine your stay with a visit to Östersund, (1 hour away by car/train) the capitol of the region of Jämtland. There you will find Jamtli, a fantastic "must-to-visit” historical open-air museum were you can explore and live as you did once in the 18th, 19th and 20th century. Both adults and children will love it.
