Welcome to Villa Stenkulla, a beautiful historic villa dating back to 1909, enjoying an exceptional waterfront location on the car-free island of Stegesund, just outside Vaxholm in the Stockholm Archipelago.

Set on a private 4,000 m² waterfront property, the villa offers panoramic sea views, a private dock, a wood-fired sauna and several inviting outdoor terraces. With a main house and two separate guest cottages, there is plenty of space for families and friends to enjoy time together – accommodating up to 12 guests.

Start your day with a refreshing swim from the private dock, enjoy breakfast on the kitchen veranda, have lunch beneath the lilacs in the garden and gather everyone for dinner on the enclosed veranda, with its spectacular panoramic sea views and unforgettable sunsets.

Private Dock & Wood-Fired Sauna

At the water's edge, you'll find a private dock with space for sun loungers and outdoor dining. The dock has sufficient water depth for a sailing yacht, and two mooring buoys are also available.

The traditional wood-fired sauna offers sea views in three directions and is situated just steps from the water, making it easy to alternate between the warmth of the sauna and a refreshing dip in the sea.

Main House & Two Guest Cottages

The property offers a total of seven bedrooms, spread across the main house and two separate guest cottages, Sussa and Siesta.

The main house has three bedrooms, including a master bedroom with a double bed, an en-suite bathroom with shower and toilet, and direct access to a private balcony overlooking the sea.

The house also features a fully equipped kitchen with dining area, a kitchen veranda with sea views in two directions, a living room with TV and a spacious enclosed veranda seating up to 12 guests.

An additional bathroom with shower and toilet is located on the ground floor.

Each of the two separate guest cottages has two bedrooms and its own toilet and washbasin. This arrangement makes the property particularly well suited to larger families and groups of friends who enjoy spending time together while also appreciating their own privacy.

Gardens & Outdoor Living

The private 4,000 m² waterfront grounds feature a lush garden with lilacs, rhododendrons, peonies and magnolias.

Several outdoor spaces offer different settings throughout the day, including a sheltered courtyard, a charming lilac-covered garden seating area, verandas, a balcony and the private waterfront dock.

Stegesund & Vaxholm

Stegesund is a peaceful, car-free island in the Stockholm Archipelago, known for its historic summer villas, beautiful natural surroundings and tranquil atmosphere.

Regular passenger ferries connect the island with Vaxholm and Stockholm. The charming seaside town of Vaxholm is approximately 10 minutes away by boat and offers restaurants, cafés, boutiques and grocery shops.

Guests can also arrive by private boat or water taxi, with parking available on the mainland.

Getting Here

Villa Stenkulla is easily accessible from Stockholm and Stockholm Arlanda Airport.

From central Stockholm: Approximately 40 minutes by car to Vaxholm.

From Stockholm Arlanda Airport: Approximately 45 minutes by car to Vaxholm.

From Vaxholm: Approximately 10 minutes by boat to Stegesund.

As Stegesund is a car-free island, the final part of the journey is by passenger ferry, private boat or water taxi.
