REconnect to Nature by REcycle - REduce - REuse - REpair - REcover
GÖTES STUGA - Wilderness & Calmness is located in the middle of the forest in northern Lapland. 2 kilometers from the small village of Nattaavaaraby with a road all the way to the cabin
Here you live in the middle of the forest and the beautiful nature with close contact to the wild nature life.
Great chances to see different types of forest birds, squirrels, hares and maybe some reindeer visit the cabin.
There are also bears, golden eagles, lynxes and wolverines in the area. These animals are shy and like to avoid people

HERE YOU LIVE IN THE SAME WAY AS PEOPLE DID BACK IN PAST:
* You collect drinking water from the lake or at my house. The drinking water is stored in a stainless container inside the cabin.
* You wash yourself in the hot steam in a wood-burning sauna, which is right by the lake's edge.
* There is an outdoor toilet with separation function behind the cabin.
* Lighting is powered by solar cells and LED lights.
We are happy to present 2023's news:
Heat-storing stove with brick and sand provides pleasant warmth in the cabin.
More off-grid projects are planned to use nature's resources in a sustainable and long-term way.
FIND QUIET AND CALM WITH NATURE CLOSE
It's high season all year round, so you choose which season attracts you the most.
In the middle of MAY and JUNE, nature begins to come to life at full speed with both wild animals and nature. The nights are bright and full of life in the forest.
The birds in particular are busy feeding their young in the bird nests near the cabin. Many migratory birds rest at the small lake near the cottage.
IN JULY there is full greenery in the forest and land and we enjoy nice summer days and swimming in the lake. Herbs and flowers grow luxuriantly now.
AUGUST offers ripe berries and plenty of mushrooms to pick. Now the evenings are getting darker and the NORTHERN LIGHTS appear in the sky again!
SEPTEMBER attracts hikes and fishing in the nearby lakes and streams. The leaves on the trees have started to turn yellow and red, fantastically beautiful!
In OCTOBER and NOVEMBER we expect our white gold, the snow! Experiences with white snow, aurora borealis and full moon await and we enjoy this until April
DECEMBER and JANUARY are real winter months with an arctic climate that offers both cold, some winter storms and fantastic winter days.
A refreshing experience is a winter walk in -25 degrees.
Worth a try!
During FEBRUARY and MARCH, the days become a little longer and brighter and the temperature slightly warmer.
Very good period to enjoy the northern lights and the full moon!
APRIL is a lovely month with warming sun, snow and fine skiing. The snow starts to melt, but it usually takes until the end of the month and a bit into May.
IN THE NATURE NEAR Göte's cottage, there are several small streams that flow together with the Råne River.
Råne Älv is one of Sweden's pristine rivers with good fishing for grayling, salmon, pike and perch.
The area also belongs to Natura 2000.
The proximity to MUDDUS NATIONAL PARK, which is part of the LAPONIA WORLD HERITAGE AREA, makes Göte's cabin a good starting point for wilderness experiences.
The distance to Muddus is only 30 km from the cabin.
EKOPARK LEIPIPIR, a very beautiful forest area near Nattaavaaraby, is also worth a visit!
GREAT CHANCE TO TRY LIVING OFF-GRID!
The cabin is well suited to try living off-grid!
The cabin has solarcell lighting, possibility to charge mobile phones from a separate battery
Heat-storing stove with brick and sand.
New off-grid projects are planned in the future, with the aim of making better use of nature's resources in a sustainable way.
(See also this cozy cabin: Tiny Timber Lodge
A mini house with two beds with the same offgrid features is also available on my farm.
Here, the simple life is a little more modern with electricity and the possibility of Wi-Fi.
Of course outdoor toilet, sauna and no running water!)
MORE ABOUT THE NICE COTTAGE
The cottage has nice terraces with a fantastic view of the little forest star.
You find tables and benches, perfect for dining or just sitting down and enjoying the view.
The cast-iron stove is wood-burning with free-standing heat storage and provides pleasant warmth even when the snowstorm swirls outside the cabin.
You get cozy lighting in the cabin, for LED- lamps powered by solar cells.
The food is cooked over a gas stove and an earthen barrel keeps food cool during the summer.
In winter, food can be placed outdoors in a wooden box, which acts as a natural refrigerator.
There is also a charcoal grill, for those who like to grill. Bring charcoal or buy at the local grocery store in the village.
THE SAUNA
The sauna is wood-burning and has a 20 liter water tank, where the water is heated while you fire in the stove.
Here you wash yourself in hot water in wash bowls and enjoy the warm steam.
You wash yourself inside the sauna, the water flows out of an opening in the floor
The sauna is right by the lakeside, so it's nice to have a quick dip and then warm up in the sauna again.
Tip!
Take the opportunity to bring hot water for the dishes inside the cabin, after finishing the sauna.
* MAKE FIRE IN THE STOVES *
Learn the TOP-DOWN-BURNING technique to fire in the stove.
This means putting large logs in the bottom of the stove.
Then you build up with smaller pieces of wood and finish with small chips from wood and birch.
You light the fire at the top and then let it burn down.
Very energy efficient and good fire safety in the stove and chimney!
Above all; no dangerous black, sticky soot is formed in the chimney with this technique (tar)
The guest should fire according to 'Top-Down-Burning' in stoves and maintain an ADEQUATE TEMPERATURE +20 degrees inside the cabin.
There is a thermometer on the wall that shows the temperature.
SLEEPING PLACES
There is a bedroom with a bunk bed and a bed.
In the family room there is a bunk bed of 120 cm, where the lower bed becomes a sofa during the day.
In total 5 comfortable beds where duvets, pillows and bed linen as well as towels are included in the price.
OUTDOOR and WOOD BODIES
The outhouse has a cozy interior and has urine separation with two different containers.
Urine is led out via a hose to a stone chest outside the building. Poop into the rear container.
The toilet seat is made of styrofoam, which makes the seat warm immediately.
Sprinkle 1 spoonful of toasted straw into the rear container after the visit.
ATTENTION! Not in the front urinary part, there will be total blockage then.
During the winter, you can pour a cup of hot water into the front part of the urethra to prevent freezing.
THE ENVIRONMENT
REconnect to Nature by REcycle - REduce - REuse - REpair - REcover
We try to recycle as much as possible of old things and furniture. We fix and repair rather than buy new.
All rubbish and food scraps are source sorted and recycled.
Vessels are both inside the cabin and by the outdoor shed/woodshed.
The food waste is composted and becomes soil for growing, among other things, potatoes, kale, broad beans and turnips.
We use nature-friendly cleaning agents, dish brushes made of natural materials and washable dish cloths.
The "plastic bags" are compostable.
THE WATER IN THE LAKE
It is fine to use the lake water as drinking water. Anyone who prefers tap water can collect it at my house.
The drinking water is stored in stainless containers in the cabin.
It is very important not to pollute the lake by, for example, washing your hair with shampoo or throwing it in the washing-up water.
You throw the washing-up water into the stone chest, which is to the right of the outdoor deck.
Cycles and recycling permeate the atmosphere in Göte's cabin and much has been preserved in its original condition from the time the cabin was built.
We see scratches on the floor, for example, as signs of past life.
Wood shed, outhouse and waste sorting are in the same building a few meters behind the cottage.
