ABOUT SOLBACKA:
Solbacka is situated beneath the ancient oak-trees and is a charming summer villa in well-preserved Art Nouveau style, built in 1914 with 12 rooms on a total of 300m². Well-contained with sea views, verandas, open fireplaces, tiled stoves, green house, spacious country kitchen, playhouse, and beautifully mullioned windows. A lovely and enjoyable home. Solbacka is numerously mentioned in both Swedish and international interior design press. Exclusive. Classical. Functional.

On the first floor there are 5 bedrooms with 9 -10 berths. On the ground floor, a spacious country kitchen, dining room, two living rooms with open fireplaces, 4 tiled stoves, library and a study together with a newly built and generous bathroom including a utility room. The house offers 2 showers and 3 WC: s. 2 air heat pumps available.

Solbacka is a home full of ideas and inspiration, decorated with a stylish hand that breathes summer when it’s at its best. The environment is genuine like in the old days, but as functional, personal, and modern as today's holidaymakers require.

The feel of space is enhanced by the light which is sieved through the ancient oak-trees foliage. Nature is vividly present even inside the house and each room has its own magic.

There are fireplaces in nearly every room. The open fireplace in the living room and the wood stove in the kitchen are natural gathering places. The kitchen is made for culinary adventures. Here you can cook together, or just hang out in lovely sofas and armchairs.

A large garden of 5,000m² with a kitchen garden. The beautiful green house with a belonging herb patch, the playhouse with a private veranda, everything enhances the romance of the garden. The green house with grapes and tomatoes also has room for 10 persons around a table, for a lunch, dinner or an evening supper with family and friends. Barbeques are naturally available.

Jetty by the sea with possibilities to rent a small motorboat. Bicycles are included in the rent. As well as the much-loved playhouse and swings for the young ones. Bed linen and towels are included. Strong and fast internet.

It's possible to rent the houses motorboat. Picture on the boat available in the photo gallery. The boat is a good use for going shopping in Vaxholm and for fishing. Perhaps surprise with warm croissants one morning? Rent of boat EUR 300/week + petrol. Boat experience and a miner boat test is required to rent the boat. The boat is for 3-4 adults. Lifejackets for adults and children are available in the house.

The Present owner, Anna Klingspor with family has owned the house for 30 years and the house is rented 2-3 week per season.

Solbacka is a fantastic house for gathering family and friends for dinners and good conversations. Regardless of if it's in front of the fireplace, on the veranda, or with candle lights in the green house.


ABOUT STEGESUND AND LOCALA SURROUNDINGS:
Tvillingöarna Stegesund and Hästholmen are classed as national cultural-historical interesting because of its many wholesalers’ villas from the turn of the century with ancient histories and well grown gardens.

The islands are connected by a small bridge and the gravel roads are excellent for the morning run. The islands are car free with meandering bicycle roads, sloping meadows, swimming spots, forest, and a feel of summer. Tennis court available. As guests of Solbacka you can play as much as you please. Tennis rackets available in the house.

Solbacka is closely located, it´s 10 minutes to Vaxholm and just an hour with Waxholmsbolagets local ferry to central Stockholm. You can easily travel to Stockholm and back in a day. Local ferries are trafficking Stegesund/Hästholmen 10 times/day in each direction. To Vaxholm you can easily take your own boat, it takes 10 minutes and is a lovely trip over the fjord Vaxholmsfjärden. There are also 3 different boat taxi companies in Vaxholm, who can drop you off at the jetty below Solbacka.

Vaxholm, the capital of the archipelago, has a rich history, not least with Vaxholm´s fortress, together with picturesque buildings with alleys and cosy shops. In Vaxholm there are about 15 restaurants, pharmacy, medical health centre, grocery stores, cafes, fresh fish, off-license shop, bakery’s for newly baked bread and freshly made croissants, cinema, cash point and lots of ice cream places! From Vaxholm you can easily go on a Vaxholm boat and out into the archipelago. In Vaxholm is also a golf course, kayak rental, horseback riding etc. and Catch&Relax offers guided fishing trips from the island.

ROAD DESCRIPTION/get to Stegesund
BY AIR - from Stockholm Arlanda airport to Vaxholm it´s about 45 minutes by taxi or car.
LOCAL FERRY - the regular ferry from Stockholm to Vaxholm, takes about an 1 hour (runs 10 times/day)
CAR – the journey from Stockholm to Vaxholm, is about 40 minutes by taxi or your car.
BUS - from Stockholm to Vaxholm, takes 40 minutes with the local bus (departures every 15 minutes)

VAXHOLM to STEGESUND, from Vaxholm to Stegesund it´s 10 minutes by taxi boat, local ferry, or private boat
