Welcome to Bergslagen, a historic region with untouched forests, rolling hills , lakes, rivers for canoing and hikingtrails. This is where small scale iron mining began in the 12th century, the iron was exported all over the world, and the prosperity that grew out of Bergslagen was instrumental in shaping modern Sweden. The mines are long gone but many home steads and memories from centuries ago mark the landscape in mythical ways. Because of the many prosperous manors in the region, the antique markets in Bergslagen are famous for good prices and possability to make many unique finds. You will also find many local organic producers of cheese, vegetables, bread and wine. The town of Nora with old quaint wood houses is 20 minutes drive away with large selection of quality shops.
