Design house in nature reserve by lake

Located in a stunning nature reserve less than 30 minutes from Stockholm’s city center, our home is a Nordic midsummer night’s dream come true. Built in a modular mid-century modern style, it’s located on a hillside surrounded by trees, nearly 5000 square meters of privacy and a 5-minute walk to the lake, Gömmaren—a popular spot for locals whether it’s ice fishing or swimming. Our space is perfect for indoor-outdoor living in both summer and winter.

Outdoors
The outdoor space starts with a huge terrace with plenty of lounge areas, dining, grilling and a wood-fired hot tub. You can play ping pong or use the outdoor gym, which includes a yoga mat, spin bike and weights. The back gardens include a fire pit campfire style, complete with sticks for making s’mores. In spring, summer and fall, you’re also welcome to whatever is growing in our small vegetable garden—cucumbers, kale, herbs, tomatoes or potatoes. There’s also an apple tree growing by the house. In the surrounding forest, blueberries and mushrooms are everywhere. Beyond the fence (which keeps out wandering deer), there’s a small seating area under the trees.

Indoors
The interior of our home is in two main modules—the main house and a semi-attached cottage house. The main house includes a bedroom with a full bed, suitable for both adults and children. You’re welcome to enjoy our book and games library—including both board games and a PS4. Across the hall is one of the bathrooms—with this one including a large bathtub and hand held shower. The living and dining area is perfect for lounging in front of the TV or fireplace. And if you meet to work re otely, there is a large desk in the living room and a small one in the bedroom.

The kitchen is fully equipped with stove, microwave, water boilers and various cooking utensils.

Just across the deck, we have the master bedroom with an en-suite bathroom. The bathroom provides laundry facilities and a walk in shower. You have plenty of privacy to relax or lounge in this 25 square meter cottage—enjoy the Nespresso machine, play records or use the bio ethanol fireplace.

Wi-if is available throughout the house. In winters, heating is via the floor. And in summer, the master bedroom has an air conditioner (extra fee if used).

Surrounding area

The home is located in a nature reserve in the Stockholm suburb of Huddinge with the lake Gömmaren. Although possible to reach with public transport, we definitely recommend a car, as the house is at the end of a rustic road on a small hill. Note that there are many steps to reach the property so it is not easily reached with a baby carriage or wheelchair. Within a 3 minute drive, you can access football (soccer) fields, tennis courts and a lovely local cafe. In 10-15 minutes, you’re either at Flottsbro—a ski center in winter and mountain biking center in summer— or in one of the nearby shopping centers. Stockholm city is a quick 15 minute hop on the commuter train if you want to avoid the hassle of city parking. But if you prefer nature, just hang out by the house. The lake has multiple bathing spots, with swimming platforms, picnic tables and grill areas. You can walk, bike or drive depending on your mood of the day. A fishing license can be purchased with QR code on the spot.
