About the house
Gradually and gently contemporary renovated and extended archipelago house was built in 1911. The house is characterized by the old archipelago style with a spacious and light feeling, due to its ceiling height, large, mullioned windows, and light colours. The glass veranda, our grand open fireplaces which reach up to the ceilings, together with the light wooden floors really does its thing. We have chosen to decorate the house with a mix of new and old furniture, mostly in light nature colours. From some of the house´s windows you can get a glimpse of the fjord Trälhavet, situated about 75 mts from our ground plot with a shared swimming jetty and sandy beach, and is where we usually go for our morning and evening swim. Beautiful and lush part of the town with primely broad-leaved trees.
The house was extended in 2007 and during spring 2016 the new fitted kitchen, along with a new WC on the first floor was done. Circa 210m².
During spring 2020 the wooden floors in the living room were sanded, and give a bright and lovely impression.

The garden
Lush garden with sunshine all day, partly surrounded by an old fashioned red wooden fence with yellow double gates towards the town road. Garden with lawns, gravel path with an edge of paving stones,” welcoming flowerbeds”, Whitebeam hedges and lilac hedges, apple trees, birch, oak trees and willows, cosy seating together with terraced flower beds. Sundeck with sunbeds with sunshine from midday to late afternoon in a private spot. Stone paved patio with lovely evening sunshine and dining furniture and barbeque.
About the area and environment
Resarö, Vaxholm, Stockholm archipelago. The fjord Trälhavet with active boat traffic. Unique environment with house in turn of the century style together with a” pavilion building” from the end of the 19th century, where the islanders still meet for lunch in "Malins Paviljongcafé", sometimes listen to concerts, hang out, play boules, tennis etc. In the neighbourhood is the” Gamla Ångbåtsbryggan” (the old steamboat jetty) with a shared pier ladder, sundeck, and small sandy beach. Area with very little traffic.
We who live in the” Glada huset”
We who live in the house are Peter, Lotta, Alex and Annie Palmqvist (18-55 years old). We love our house and have gently renovated and extended the house on our own and together with well-skilled craftsmen since we moved into the house in 2000. We feel great about other people filling the house with life and laughter while we are travelling during summer and sometimes over Christmas and New year.
