Fabulous Seaside house on Malma, Värmdö, Stockholm

A truly unique location with magnificent views across the archipelago. You will
never tire of the views from the kitchen/dining room or from outside!
Located opposite the peninsula of Malma, about 40 mins from Stockholm in a
Swedish paradise, we are located about as far out as you can go without a boat, down
a private road and dead end driveway.
This old timber house was restored and added to in 2009. We have retained the
feeling of old timber, yet have added some modern, open plan features to turn this
house into a comfortable, modern, light, slightly quirky, family home. There is
underfloor heating throughout the house, an open fireplace in the sitting room and
a small woodburning stove, very typical for Sweden, in the kitchen dining area.
The bedrooms all have painted, wooden floors whilst the sitting, dining and kitchen
floors are wide, bare planks which we treat with pine soap, making them super soft
underfoot. The bathrooms, halls and washroom all have tiled floors.
In the main house we have 2 double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 2 children´s
bedrooms with high, quite large, built-in beds (and a "secret" door....), again very typically Swedish, a great playroom with Tv, DVD player, Dvds in English, Swedish and
Spanish, toys, books and a table meant for drawing and painting.
There is a utility room with a large freezer, washing machine and tumble drier and direct access to the back of the house and a drying line.
The bigger of the two bathrooms, has a huge cast-iron bath under a low, angled window, giving views across the bay. Not a bad place to be with a book and a drink! Off the bathroom is a door leading out to a deck and outdoor shower, also with views across the bay. The second bathroom has a large walk-in shower with glass doors.
The kitchen/dining area faces South and has 2 walls with tall windows, taking
advantage of the incredible views across the islands and also down towards the bay.
Gas hob, electric oven, fridge, dishwasher, walk-in larder and fully equipped
kitchen. A microwave can be added.
We have a large dining table seating 12+ inside. The sitting room has a newly built
open fire-place, sofa, chairs and a backgammon table. Above the kitchen/dining is a mezzanine floor which is reached by a ladder. Here we just have some seating where you can enjoy breakfast or evening
drinks and watch the boats out on the sea. Again, the views are staggering!
We have extensive decking facing South and East, which gives ample space for
sunbathing, enjoying breakfast or supper in the sun.
There is a large outdoor table with chairs for dining and we have comfortable
sun/relax chairs. There is a BBQ available.
At the back of the house is a small log cabin from the North of Sweden with
electricity but no water. There is a double room with a double bed (180cm). A
separate room at the back holds 2 bunkbeds as well as a mahogany rowing boat
that we use as a child´s bed!
A walk down the rocks and woods, takes you to a sunny rock from where you can swim. There is also a , small rocky beach where you can put some chairs. If you are going to rent a boat, there is a possibility of a mooring at a small private jetty.
Here you have sun-bathing rocks and swimming possibilities. Hop in the boat with
tents and a picnic and go to one of the many islands to truly experience the
Swedish freedom! We will make sure you know where to go and what to look out
for, if you are new to this area! It is a unique, beautiful and peaceful setting.
Available to borrow: bikes, life-jackets, fishing gear, picnic baskets, coolbags, tents sleepingbags etc. You can rent a small outboard boat for 25eur/day- ask me for details. Some experience needed.
Towels and linen included. If you miss anything, please ask and we will try as much as
possible to accommodate you.
Within 5-6 minutes walking, you´ll find 2 fabulous fresh-water lakes in the forest.
Both are perfect for swimming as they warm up faster than the sea. You can swim
across without hearing a sound, except the birds and the trees! One of the lakes is
perfect for very young children as it has a small, sandy beach. We sometimes bring a
bottle of wine and some snacks as this lake has lovely afternoon/evening sun.
You have 2 golf-courses nearby, supermarket etc. within 20 minutes, bus services
to Stockholm within 10 minutes, pony riding within 5 minutes, woodland walks,
islands to explore.....
Stockholm itself is well worth a few days of exploring. Vasa, Milles garden,
museums, old town as well as a very popular amusement park with hair raising
rides.
You can also take a boat ride out towards Malma and be dropped 15 minutes from
the house.

Our family of 4 with 2 teenage kids spent a little more than a week in June 2018 in Jenny's house. Both the setting and the house are superb - wonderful views, spacious design, a kitchen with absolutely everything you might need, great outdoor seating. It is absolutely quite, at the end of a private road and directly above a little bay of the Baltic sea. You may swim there or in a lake close by, that typically is somewhat warmer. Jenny was a great host, always responsive and supportive, always relaxed and pragmatic. We simply had a great time and can highly recommend the house for a quiet retreat - we certainly will try to come back.

We were a group of 6 adults and 4 children (10 and under). This house was a paradise. Plenty of room for sleeping and coming together. Great kitchen and dining space. The views are gorgeous. We swam in the nearby lake and in the sea (which was very cold). Jenny took some of us out on her boat and told us some history of the area. We invited friends to visit us for an afternoon and they took the bus from Stockholm and back again.
