The area is very beautiful. Approx 7 mins walk from the house you can enjoy a morning or evening swim from the smooth archipelago rocks, otherwise there are 2 sandy beaches approx 3 km away. The local cafe is in Simpnäs, 3 km away. There is also a good Thai restaurant there and you can take a local boat to Arholma or other nearby islands. The nearest supermarket is approx 6 km away.
Otherwise, Älmsta, a small town or Norrtälje, a larger "New England" style town are approx 20 mins and 45 mins away respectively. Grisslehamn, a pretty coastal village on the north of Väddö may be reached by car or bus. (approximately 45 mins by car) Here, there is a super spa hotel with amazing indoor and outdoor (warm) swimming pools. A full day pass for the spa, overlooking the sea costs approximately 400-700 SEK depending on the day, however, check with the hotel in case prices have changed. It's also possible to take a ferry to Åland from Grisslehamn. The trip takes about 2 hours each way and it's a great day trip, however, it's best to take a car!
