This attractive cottage is located in the middle of the village Sundsandvik, just north of Orust. The cottage consists of two houses connected with a covered patio and it sleeps 4-6 people. The main house has a small kitchen, a living room (bed sofa for two), a small bedroom (beds for two) and a restroom. The second house has a bedroom (beds for two) and a restroom with shower. The total living area is about 45m2 (three rooms and a kitchen) and is best suited for four people, but can sleep up to six. The kitchen is well equipped with stove, fridge, freezer, and plenty of kitchen utensils. The covered patio has a fireplace which makes it an awesome place for late summer nights. Firewood available. The rental period is usually on a weekly basis (Saturday to Saturday), but you may visit us for a weekend during low season (spring and autumn). From the cottage it is only a five-minute walk down to the shore.
Sundsandvik has about 200 residents and most of them are working in Uddevalla or in Henån. However, Sundsandvik becomes more lively during the lighter and warmer half of the year, when the summer guests are occupying their cottages. Around a thousand people enjoy parts of the summer here with swimming, fishing, and sailing – rain or shine! A beach of rocks and sand close to the bridge (Nötesundsbron) is a nice place for sunbathing and for taking a swim. If you prefer a larger beach, we recommend “Hafsten Resort” which is located 2km east of Sundsandvik. Besides the nice sand beach at Hafsten, it offers a lot of activities including a pool with water slide, tennis, boule, miniature golf, nice trails, and a small grocery store.
Henån on Orust is the nearest town (8 km) with banks, post office, library etc., while the large Torp shopping centre in Uddevalla is about 12 km away.
Geographically, Sundsandvik is located in the center of the county Bohuslän, and this makes it ideal for short daytrips. For example fishing villages like Mollösund, Fiskebäckskil and Lysekil, that are located further out in the archipelago of Bohuslän, are within an hour distance by car. A longer trip by car can take you to Smögen or Hunnebostrand (60km) and Strömstad (100km), and it is only about 90km to Gothenburg, a great city for entertainment, sight-seeing, and shopping.
We hope to welcome you to Sundsandvik to experience a part of the beautiful Bohuslän!
Directions (address for google maps: Sundsandvik 139, 451 96 Uddevalla):
It needs to be said that there are public buses from both Uddevalla (~30 minutes away) and Gothenburg (~1.5 hours away) to Sundsandvik. The bus stop is logically named as ”Sundsandvik” and is located only ~400m from the Timber Cottage. Please see the current bus timetable from Västtrafik (

Traveling from the north, take highway 160 from Uddevalla towards Orust. When reaching the strait Nötesund you will see the bridge that leads to Orust. About 400m before you reach the bridge you will find the sign “Sundsandvik 1”. Take a right turn. If you are travelling from the south, take highway 160 via Orust. Take a left turn at the sign “Sundsandvik 1” about 400m after you have left the bridge behind you. After turning, follow this smaller country road along the shore into the village Sundsandvik. Short after you have passed underneath the bridge, the road will start to wind uphill. Continue for about 500m and just before the road reaches the top of the hill, you will see a white cubic-shaped house on the left. The timber cottage is just to the right of this house. Take the small driveway to the right of this cottage and park at the designated space along the cottage. Welcome!
