10 min forest path to ocean swim north Orust

Silence, peace, meadows, forest and sea. A small simple cottage, secluded in the middle of nature on a plot with a croft (where I live) and a barn. Walking-friendly paths and small dirt roads wind through forest and past meadows, fields and hills with sheep, horses and cows. At our place in northern Orust, near Slussen, you have the opportunity to both relax and socialize. With minimal environmental impact, you can enjoy lazy summer days or cozy spring or autumn days in Lillstugan. Depending on the season, you can pick raspberries, blackberries, lingonberries, blueberries and mushrooms in the surrounding woodlands. If you are in to clamping, this is your spot. A way to have a simple rustic vacation with a bit more comfort than with a tent.

Surrounding area:
Lillstugan is located on the border between forest and meadow. After a short walk on small forest paths, you will find a nice viewpoint with a beautiful 180-degree ocean view. There is also a small pebble beach and sunbathing friendly rocks down by the sea about 800 meters (10 min walk) from the cottage, which is reached via a path through the forest. If you walk for 20 minutes in the other direction, you will come to beautiful and atmospheric Höggeröd waters, which, in addition to magical views, also offer swimming.

About Lillstugan:
Torpet Fridhem is located on a plot of approximately 1 hectare of forest and meadow with a barn. Just behind the croft is the small cottage - that's the one you rent. It is an old log cabin that has been remodeled and renovated to retain the old charm. In the middle of the room is a double bed. There is no running water here, but at the back of the cottage there is a small deck and bench with a sink and a refillable water jug with a tap. The cottage is equipped with a mini fridge, coffee maker, kettle, toaster, a hotplate and a portable radiator. It is possible to buy eggs laid by the hens on the farm. The outhouse is about 25 m from the cottage, at the back of the barn. Outside the outhouse there is a small sink, a small water tank (for hand washing), soap and towel. There is no shower - the lake and the ocean is where you can wash off.

The possibility to rent an event barn is available!
The barn was built in 2015 in an old style with old methods and wood from Orust. It is an excellent place for large parties and dinners, regardless of the weather. Set the tables and open the double doors! It is also possible to sleep upstairs in the loft - where there are three beds with mattresses. The sofa in the loge can also be made into a bed for two.

Some excursion tips:
1. Go swimming! Follow the small forest path down to the sea, enjoy the sun and let the children fish for small crabs. Or take a dip in the nearby lake!

2. Take a walk. A pleasant walk through the forest of just over 2 km leads to Töllås Fårgård, where there is a small farm shop with the farm's own products: lamb, marmalade, chutney, sourdough bread, vegetables, lamb skin, etc. There is also a summer cafe with pies and cakes baked on the farm. 3. Swim in Höggerödssjön (see map), visit the nearby pottery shop or visit one of the many summer flea markets in the area.

4. Enjoy an ice cream or "dinner & concert" in Slussen: It's about 2.5 km to the famous Slussen Pensionat - get there for the summer's best music experience! Check out: . There is also a small café in Slussen, as well as swimming opportunities.

5. Runnsvattnet in Slussen offers a trail for light hiking and birdwatching.



Grocery store, gas station, etc.
The distance to Henån is 9 km. There is a grocery store, tourist information, pharmacy, restaurants, library, a few small shops, bank, post office, liquor store and a small marina. Orust is known for its many beautiful seaside resorts and nice small archipelago communities. Golf courses, restaurants and boat rentals are available on the island.

Connections:
Gothenburg is just over an hour away by car, depending on traffic. By car you can also reach Uddevalla in about 20 minutes, Lysekil in 30 minutes, Smögen in about an hour.
