Welcome to our beautiful timber built Swedish Lakeside Cottage on the shores of Lake Siljan.
You will find yourself on the island of Sollerön, surrounded by Lake Siljan, close to Mora in the heart of Dalarna. This is a part of Sweden steeped in history and tradition and famed for its nature, beauty and music.
We are located in the forest with an uninterrupted southwest view of the lake, where your neighbours are often a passing deer, a hopping hare or our friendly woodpecker.
Enjoy a stroll in the forest, pick berries & mushrooms, swim or canoe in the lake or simply recharge in the long sunshine hours of a Swedish summer.
For those seeking sport or adventure there are many walking, cycling, orienteering and skiing trails, a variety of on lake activities, golf and much more. All close enough to feel near yet far enough not to disturb the tranquillity of the location.
The cottage is a traditional timber home built in 1996 by a local Sollerö craftsman and the house has a large raised deck with an outdoor eating area, which overlooks the lake.
As you enter the house you come into a bright and airy open plan kitchen living room. The wooden floor has a traditional Dala finish and the light from the rear deck windows floods into the main living space. The kitchen has a family dining table for 8, with plenty of workspace and is equipped with all the appliances and utensils you need. The cooker is electric and there is a fridge freezer, dishwasher & microwave.
There is an internet connection a “SMART” TV with HDMI and USB access. Also, in one corner is a log burning fireplace.
Off the main living room is the bathroom (shower) with washing machine, and a sauna. The WC has recently been upgraded to the highest environmental standards.
The cabin sleeps 6-8 people. The master bedroom looks out onto the lake and has rear deck access. There is a large double bed in the master bedroom and the other two bedrooms have contemporary designed bunks each with a 140cm lower bed that can sleep 2 with a smaller single bunk above. There is also a cot available and hairdryers in each room.
Outside there is charcoal bar-be-que equipment for use by the cottage (but not on the wooden deck please!) and another in a ‘picnic hut’ or ‘Slogbod’, close to the swimming area.
There is also a canoe and rowing boat for you to use, which are located by the picnic hut and jetty. Flotation vests are stored in the bicycle shed and must be worn when using the canoe.
