The cosy vacation home is located directly at the lake Östen, the northern end of the Dalsland canal, in the Western Swedish province of Värmland. Värmland is known for being Sweden’s natural attraction with its endless woods and 10.000 lakes.
Pure relaxation awaits you surrounded by woods with a beautiful view on the lake from the terrace. Your own jetty only lies 30 m away from the house. You have the option to rent a motorized fishing boat on site.
The house Stenbäcken offers a sophisticated equipment and a spacious and covered terrace. Nothing will hold you back from enjoying the Swedish natural atmosphere, with having a barbecue for example. If Sweden isn’t enough for you, the Norwegian border only lies 7km away.
No matter what time of the year, the house is climatized all year round: During the summer, the wooden structure of the house keeps the house naturally cool, whereas during the colder months, the floor heating and the fireplace create a pleasant temperature.

Active in nature and water
The surrounding nature already provides the activities for your stay. Most importantly, the combination of water, nature and the abundance of animals invites you to go fishing. The Östen and many more lakes and rivers provide rich fishing grounds with pikes (+10 kg), bass (+1,5 kg) and trout. The fishing activity is rather low in the area which results in good catches.
…who wants to try something different, has also the chance to try ice fishing…
The beautiful nature also provides unforgettable memories when it comes to water sport activities. Swimming, canoeing, boat rides, tubing, water ski, jet ski etc. make every sports fan happy. For the more low-key people, a relaxed day on a lonely island awaits you.
Who rather wants to stay on land, can go for a hike, take the bike for a spin, look for a hidden geo cache or collect some wild berries and mushrooms. With a bit of luck, you can meet a moose or a lynx in its natural habitat. If you want to make sure to see wildlife, you can also visit a moose park or take part in a beaver safari.
The nearby nature reserve Glaskogen is perfect for longer hikes through quaint woods.
Definitely worth a trip is Sweden’s most famous junkyard: the car cemetery Bästnas with cars and buses from the 1940’s to the 1960’s.
If you find yourself missing the big city life or you feel like going on a shopping tour, Oslo and Karlstad are only 100km away.
During the winter, you also get the chance to go on ice-skating hikes over the frozen lakes or go skiing or cross-country skiing.
